# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It feeds a crowd without requiring you to be a professional baker or stress about intricate techniques.
  • The vanilla buttercream is forgiving and forgetful-proof, so even if you're decorating at the last minute, it holds up beautifully.
  • Sheet cakes are unbelievably practical—they fit in standard pans, transport easily, and look celebration-ready with minimal fuss.
02 -
  • Everything being room temperature is not just a suggestion—cold eggs and butter won't incorporate properly and you'll end up with a grainy, dense cake that feels off the moment you bite into it.
  • Don't open the oven door to peek before 25 minutes have passed, because sudden temperature drops can cause the cake to sink or develop a crater on top.
03 -
  • Invest in an offset spatula for frosting—it makes spreading smooth and even without dragging cake crumbs into your frosting.
  • If your buttercream seems too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time; if it's too soft, add more powdered sugar gradually until you hit the sweet spot.
